When Jan isn't busy with her presidential duties she organises our enthusiastic volunteers to telemarket bunches of daffodils that brighten up local businesses and help raise money for Daffodil Day.

Judy Gould

Judy is responsible for the general management of the division including finances, human resources, policy implementation, external liaison and public relations.  She has strong, clear vision for the future of the Cancer Society and its work in the community. 

HAMILTON OFFICE

Judi Vickers

Judi is responsible for managaing the Hamilton office and all of the division’s financial accounts.  She also coordinates the workshops for Look Good... Feel Better, which are held monthly at the Hamilton office.

Graham Harbutt
Support services manager

Graham works to find out what the community needs from the Cancer Society in terms of support, education and information.  He is also responsible for the overall supervision and coordination of the support services staff and their activities ensuring a consistent and professional delievery of services across the region. With a background in social work, Graham has experience as a management training facilitator in government and health sectors.

Helen Smathers

Helen provides a nursing service that ensures people with cancer and their families receive the best possible care and support in their own homes.  She works alongside other health professionals to provide advocacy and support for people with cancer.  Helen is a registered nurse with a background in haemotology-oncology and palliative care.

Kerryn Waugh

Kerryn works as a liaison nurse to help ensure the best outcomes for people and families affeceted by cancer.  She works alongside health professionals to provide a nursing service to the rural areas of Waikato and Bay of Plenty.  Kerryn, a registered nurse, has a background in public health nursing, pediatrics and family focused nursing.

Bev Henderson

Bev is responsible for the huge pool of volunteers working across the region providing any number of services for the Cancer Society.  As well as recruiting volunteers, Bev is responsible for their ongoing training.  She also runs the Living with Cancer programme in Hamilton. 

Jo Bell

Jo works to promote the Cancer Society's free services and achievements.  She handles media and advertising enquiries and also manages the web site.

Leasa Pearson
Events coordinator

Leasa organises and oversees the division's fundraising events - Daffodil Day and Relay For Life.  The money raised from these successful events goes back into the local communities to help people affected by cancer and their families.

Diana Bowen
Lion's Cancer Lodge project coordinator

Formerly the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Cancer Society Support Services Manager, Diana has now taken on the role of coordinating the relocation of the Lion's Cancer Lodge to it's new site at the old Braemar Hospital in Hamilton. 

Micaela-Joy Williamson
Skin Cancer Prevention - Programme Coordinator

Micaela-Joy works to spread the word on skin cancer prevention measures.  She is involved with the SunSmart programme and assits schools in the region with acheiveing SunSmart Schools Accreditation.  Micaela-Joy coordinates Undercover Cody's visits in the Waikato.

Melanie Desmarais

Melanie coordinates the SunSmart Schools Accreditation programme for the Bay of Plenty.  She is also responsible for the society's SmokeFree activies throughout the region including the national 'Out of Sight, Out of Mind' campaign.

It is  Carol'es friendly face that visitors to the Hamilton office see first. Carole is responsible for coordinating the smooth running of the Hamilton office and is instrumental in the donor appeal process. 

Tess Ellery

Tess is responsible for the organisation of all information resources, providing administration support for the Lodge Project, administration of our donor appeal campaigns and updating the Undercover Cody website. 

Michelle Peat

Volunteer transport services coordinator

Michelle is based at the oncology department reception at Waikato Hospital and is responsible for ensuring a higher profile of Cancer Society services as well as responding and coordinating transport requests.  To contact Michelle for transport bookings ph 07 838 8899 extn 23413.

ROTORUA OFFICE

Sarah Doyle

Rotorua liaison nurse

Sarah Doyle is a registered nurse who has worked in public health nursing for the Bay of Plenty District Health Board in recent years.  Well-known in the community, Sarah offers support for people affected by cancer in the Rotorua, Whakatane and Murupara communities as one of our liaison nurse team members by providing information, advocacy and access to Cancer Society support services.  

Amanda Mole

With responsiblity for rural liaison nurse services in the south Waikato and Central Plateau area, Amanda brings extensive cancer nursing skills to these areas.  Amanda has worked in chemotherapy and oncology nursing for a number of years as well as haema-dialysis and radiology at Rotorua Hospital.  Amanda is based in Rotorua but is in Taupo fortnightly and regularly visits her other rural areas.

Sue Haua

Sue is part of the Cancer Society's liaison nurse team responsible for Rotorua.  With many years of hospital nursing experience, Sue has worked in chemotherapy and oncology as well as in out-patient clinics as a rehabilitation nurse.  Sue is also responsible for coordinating Rotorua's volunteers.

Colleen Kendrick

Colleen has a nursing degree and six years experience working as an oncology haematology and chemotherapy nurse.  She works alongside other health professionals to provide advocacy and support for people with cancer in the Tauranga community and their families, ensuring that they receive the best possible care and support. 

Anne Davidson

Anne works alongside Colleen providing liaison nurse support for people in the Tauranga region who are affected by cancer. 

       

Denise Carroll

Denise is the frontline face for the Tauranga office, handling all administrative duties, she also assists with Relay For Life administration.  Coordination of Tauranga's Daffodil Day campaign is another vital role Denise fulfills. 

Heather Burch
Massage Therapist - Hamilton

Every Thursday Heather Burch provides the therapeutic massage service to people undergoing treatment for cancer.  The service is offered at the Lions Cancer Lodge in the grounds of Waikato Hospital.

Jill Straker
Massage Therapist - Tauranga

Jill, a registered nurse, offers the therapeutic massage service at the Cancer Society Tauranga office for those undergoing cancer treatments to assist with the physical and emotional management of the side effects from cancer treatment. 
Undercover Cody

Cody spends his time going on undercover missions with his friends Duke (the starfish in this photo), Friday the fish and Lucy the shell.  They remind kids to SLIP SLOP SLAP and WRAP and teach them that it's cool to be SunSmart!
